More Than Ten – Leave It Then

UPF’s were in the news this week
Ultra Processed Foods (defined by Professor Tim Spector, epidemiologist at Kings College London as: ‘an unusually long shelf life, and ten or more ingredients that you are unable to understand’) now make up 50% of most people’s daily calorie intake in the UK, the highest proportion in Europe. The US is over 50% too.
And we wonder why the rates of non-infectious diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, dementia and auto-immune diseases are rising? Really?
‘No previously published study has assessed the incidence and mortality comprehensively for site-specific cancers in relation to UPF consumption’ The Lancet says. The findings of this one show: ‘Every 10% point increment in UPF consumption was associated with an increased incidence of overall and specifically ovarian cancer. Furthermore, every 10% point increment in UPF consumption was associated with an increased risk of overall, ovarian, and breast cancer-related mortality.
Are those hotdogs really worth it?
Valentines dinner with vacon or vishcakes anyone?
The Little Vegan Butchers opened in my hometown this week.
They’re offering a three-course Valentines Day Box to pre-order for two and the choice of mains is ‘steak’ chimichurri and confit chips, ‘vish’ mornay with asparagus and potatoes or sticky Korean short ‘vibs’ with rice.
Love for all creatures and our planet this Valentines Day!
A lot of LOVE for Niki’s Rebel Recipes too.
Chatting to one of our Contributors last week and she was sharing her love of Niki’s food.
I’ve already made her Spicy Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup and her Banana Blueberry and Buckwheat Pancakes were just the thing to enjoy with our returning teen for Sunday’s Brunch together.
More to come – welcome to our site Rebels.
Mr Clear you are very LOVED right now…
Having a look this morning at the current Amazon best sellers in books and this one, that’s featured on our site, is in the top 100 on Amazon US, FR and UK.
Actually 10% of the Top 100 best-selling books on Amazon UK are on our site, 7% on the US store and 2% in France. Among them: Jay Shetty, Tim Spector, Matt Haig, Dr Rupy Aujla, Vex King, Dr Michael Mosley, Bessel van der Kolk, Jessie Inchauspé, Mark Manson, Dan Buettner and Dr Nicole LePera.
A lot of people buying books on health and wellness – next step’s to get them read, then to act on them!
65 year old Fran Drescher at this week’s Grammy Awards.
Proud to feature her work on our site. Her Cancer Schmancer organisation promotes prevention, early detection and policy change on cancer.
Looking AMAZING Ms D – LOVE your dress!
Scary stuff. We now have more obese people on our planet than malnourished. These are the most recent stats from OECD, published in 2018, they’ve possibly increased since then too. Back we go to the top of this week’s blog – those UPF’s make up 50% of the world’s most overweight nation…
Time for change.
LOVE that Ella‘s team have seen our work too. We’ll keep on keeping on – where will we be in 10 year’s time?
