- 200 years for synthetic fabrics (of which many fast fashion items are composed) to begin to decompose.
- 7500 litres of water to make one pair of jeans.
What a nightmare. I checked out the CEO being interviewed and found some hope looking at her company’s site. Their stated mission is to: ‘end Chilean waste, generating a great social and environmental contribution in the process.’
Go Ecocitex – we all need to play our part in reducing pollution.
Here’s me yesterday afternoon in my 15 euro sweater: Ralph Lauren, 85% silk, 15% cashmere, purchased from a second-hand shop in SW France near where I live.
Love my bargain – makes me feel good too. Win/win.
Barcelona Market, Spain, last week.
Why? Why do we need a plastic spoon to eat this fruit?
Dragon Fruit (Pitaya) are great for our health: antioxidants, high-fibre, fat-free, contains prebiotics – so many pluses to possibly lower our blood sugar and strengthen our immune system.
The plastic spoons – not so much.
- Is your immune system compromised?
- Do you experience gas, bloating, or constipation?
- Do you have (or suspect you have) an autoimmune disorder?
- Do you catch a cold or sinus infection every single year?
- Are you not sleeping well at night?
- Do you feel run down or tired a lot?
- Do you feel stressed more often than not?
- Do you deal with anxiety consistently?
- Do you often use ‘over the counter’ remedies for headaches, joint pain, or indigestion?
- Have you not been able to lose weight (even though you’re trying)?
- Do you have issues with your skin?
There are all indications your microbiome may be out of balance.

Last week we featured news that the Menopause Bill had sadly been dropped by the UK Parliament. Some thoughts below from Irena-Marie Makowska from Focus Wellbeing, one of our contributors:
Is Menopause Taboo in your Organisation?
I’ll be honest I never thought I’d address this issue publicly. Why – because I feel it’s something most of us women want to deal with in our own way. It makes us feel vulnerable, less than. Of course, not everyone feels the same, and some women don’t experience many of the physical, emotional, and mental symptoms, that can be very debilitating for many.
So how can companies support their employees during this time? For me it would be about creating comradery, humour, and practical in-house support programmes. Speaking as a woman, we are not the best at standing together to push ourselves to the front, especially in the workplace – and especially when our hormones (or lack of) can create ‘cognitive overload, fatigue, loss of self-confidence, emotional disarray…’
UK TV presenter, Davina McCall admitted in her documentary on Channel 4 on her experience with menopause: “I was scared about what was going on, somehow menopause is shameful to admit, in a million different ways. You’re past your sell-by date.”
So how do we break down the myths, the embarrassment, the resignation that this is it – we must suffer, often in silence. For me, if we can alter our mindset around how we feel that would help enormously. Men cannot understand unless we’re open about it.
Did you know our brain doesn’t know the difference between fact and a belief we’ve taken on – we are merely following pre-setup mind maps that we’ve created since early childhood and beyond. One of the most amazing facts about the brain is it also doesn’t know the difference between past, present and future. So, we can use this process to create new mind maps – a bit like updating our computer with the latest software upgrade – thus changing some of the negative mindsets we have about ourselves. Within my workshops we harness this ability – so we can create new templates on how we’d like to feel instead.
Thank you for that encouragement Irena.
