What do Givenchy, Mercedes Benz, Adidas and H&M have in common?
They’ve all collaborated with these two…. Who knew?
Leather comes from cows (we know this), cows have a huge environmental impact (widely acknowledged), here’s one of many new, environmentally sound alternatives.
Promising new research was published this month in Medscape and JAMA showing a link between the use of probiotics and an improvement in those suffering from depression. ‘There is a real place for the use of probiotics in mental health‘ said Dr Naidoo, who is the director of nutritional and metabolic psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and of nutritional psychiatry at the MGH Academy. She says: ‘Eating foods with live probiotics may also benefit gut health and, therefore, mood. The same goes with eating fermented foods with live active cultures.’
E904 is shellac. And what is that?
It’s an approved food additive that gives a shiny hard coating to many candies/sweets, pharmaceutical pills and a coating on citrus fruit and apples to prolong their shelf life. Do you know what it’s made from though? Lac bug excretions.
When you eat shellac glazed products, you’re not eating the bug; you’re eating something made from its excreta. Nice…
This article is from Forbes, it may be 6 years old, but, we’re still eating bugs.
Moving on to much more pleasant thoughts:
Nature is a powerful medicine. We all know it. Here’s some suggestions from Dr Frank Lipman on getting creative and spending more time there. Even this pic makes us smile…
‘Someone’ bought a stack of fresh peaches in the ‘anti-waste’ section of her local supermarket last week.
Bags of them headed to the freezer: smoothies are delicious (and cold) with frozen peach added to them.
How to be more environmentally friendly and not use plastic bags to store them in though? Not worked that one out yet. Glass containers?
Houston (and Nottingham and Blackpool in the UK) – We have a problem.
Gone are the days when lower incomes = hunger. We’ve gone into reverse where lower incomes = higher obesity risk.
How could this have happened?
No simple answer, that’s for sure. But what are we doing about it?
With our current strategies the trend is only set to increase – the associated health issues will increase alongside it.
Time for change.
This one got our 18 year old’s approval and Niki, at Rebel Recipes, that’s saying something.
Sticky aubergine and courgette puttanesca with roasted cauliflower. Honestly, the flavours, absolutely delicious.
Actually we picked up a cauliflower in the ‘anti-waste’ section yesterday too, now there’s a thought for supper…
1000’s more healthy recipes on our site, as always.
Nigella Sativa (not Lawson) was part of my healing protocol from breast cancer.
Here’s a new article from Dr Isabella Wentz (who features on our site) sharing it’s benefits for Hashimoto’s sufferers too.
It’s a powerhouse.
A picture says a thousand words… Empty.
These are recommended by our friend Margaret, who’s making plant-based her diet currently. Whilst they are a processed food, they’re helping with her transition, obviously…
