‘The times they are a-changin’ sang Bob Dylan half a century ago. They certainly are; who would have thought a top fashion label’s summer collection would feature mostly vegan materials?
The fashion house of Stella McCartney is celebrating mushrooms across its summer range, which is called Fashion Fungi.
Mushrooms have significant climate-healing potential; increasing soil biodiversity, helping to boost the health of the earth and improving carbon sequestration. They can also degrade pollutants, including oil and even plastic.
Those environmental benefits inspired this summer’s collection. The Netflix documentary Fantastic Fungi was another inspiration, you can watch the trailer below:
Mushrooms. The beauty, intelligence and solutions they offer in response to some of our most pressing medical, therapeutic, and environmental challenges – are all going on beneath our feet. Who’dve thought?

Gentlemen’s singles champion. Gentleman – oh he was, he is: polite, respectful. Singles – although he would say he was far from alone on Centre Court yesterday: his faith is a huge part of his life (we featured a Times article on his meditation practices during Wimbledon on last week’s blog). Champion – his 21st Grand Slam title: He’s a tennis champion, but also champions whole-food plant-based eating, to which he attributes his leap from good player to great.

So here we are Neal – this one’s for you (and the millions of others continuing to buy meats that are recognised as a definite cancer risk to their health).

Go Mike – phenomenal.
Summer mornings often bring house-guests and house-guests are offered healthy juice at breakfast time. This one was beets, lemon, apple, spinach, ginger, turmeric, filtered water and went down a treat. A great tonic for the many late nights we’ve all been having!
