Health. ‘The tectonic plate on which everything rests’
Says Steven Bartlett (Diary of a CEO/Dragons Den) ‘Sleep’s No1, eating’s No1 and I don’t miss a day in the gym.’ He goes on to say that if you remove his dog, he still has everything else, same with his girlfriend (bless her!), but remove his health, he has nothing.
And that is why his health is his Priority No1. Is it yours?
Last few days for this bargain! ‘Natural ways of creating shifts in your life that can fundamentally change how you live with, and experience, chronic pain’. It’s a great read from Catherine, one of our Contributors here at Double-zero.
Could flavonols slow changes in cognitive performance, memory and spatial ability?
This article in Neurology; the most widely read and highly cited peer-reviewed neurology journal suggests so.
Flavanols are found in these foods:
Onions, kale, grapes and red wine, tea, peaches, berries, tomatoes, lettuce, scallions, broccoli. Not too difficult to consume them… More on brain health on our resource.
Having a chat with Jane McLelland, author of How to Starve Cancer last week, as she was on the search for people who would be willing to share how diet and nutrition affected their cancer outcome and she mentioned that she was currently attending the annual conference held by The Annie Appleseed Project (and yes, Ann, how did that name come about?) in West Palm Beach Florida. We’ve added their resource to ours – here’s Ann discussing her experiences (there are many) of cancer with Chris Wark, from Chris Beat Cancer (many years ago), whose website and books are already featured on DZ.
Couldn’t find a recipe for Saag Aloo amongst the myriad of websites on our recipe resource (then I realised I was spelling it wrong…), so headed to Google.
Kitchen Sanctuary were on the first page – great find! Switched in a veggie stock in place of the chicken stock and voila, a totally vegan, totally delicious side dish to go with Sunday lunch.
REALLY good.
Here’s the recipe as promised Jue!
Green Queen joined our site this week. They’re a Hong Kong based publication advocating for social and environmental change in Asia.
You’ll see that the issues in Asia are no different to the rest of the world.
You can now find them on our sustainability resource.
In case you wondered; Prince Harry and Gabor Maté did meet up last Saturday, as shared in last week’s blog. Gabor diagnosed the prince with: PTSD, ADD, depression, panic and anxiety disorder, amongst other diagnoses.
And no, we didn’t break the ‘no photographs’ rule, this one’s from The Sunday Times of 5 March 2023.
Dr Maté’s excellent film has been added to our healthy mind resource this week. (Thank you Sabelle for reminding us just how good it is…)
