States an article in this week’s The Times newspaper.  Addressing a patient’s spiritual needs, leads to “better quality of life and medical care outcomes”.

A study published in the JAMA (Journal of American Medical Association) found that those who regularly attended religious services were 27 per cent less likely to die early and 33 per cent less likely to suffer symptoms of depression.  You can read the full article here.

Square One is a fantastic 10 part program for anyone with cancer, their loved ones and anyone interested in preventing cancer forming in their body.  I watched it in the summer of 2018 whilst working through my own healing from breast cancer and it’s available to watch free of charge from 26 July.  Chris Wark was diagnosed with cancer in 2003, he shares how he healed – and has managed to remain cancer free to this day.  For the link to all 10 parts of this series simply follow Chris Beat Cancer on Instagram and leave a heart on the post.  He’ll DM you the link.  Here’s the first episode:

The Sleep Doctor‘ joined our site this week:  Launched in 2008 by Dr Michael J Breus it is dedicated to helping readers get the rest they need, make meaningful lifestyle changes to ensure high-quality sleep, and achieve peak performance during their waking hours.

So important for our health.

When you can wander down the road to buy lunch from a local couple farming organically in your village:  Padron peppers, yellow courgettes, beef tomatoes, cucumber – all grown within 1km of our home.

Happy days.

Then you head to Amapola Kitchen, a fab new restaurant, for brunch and you see their herbs on the counter, ready to be used by the chefs.

Keeping it local, organic and healthy.  No long supply chains.  Sustainability.

Good to see this amazing woman, Jane Goodall being honoured by Mattel, as an ‘Inspiring Woman.’

You can find more from this great role model for the next generation on our site.

Listened to some wisdom from James Maskell this week, who was a guest on the very successful Feel Better, Live More podcast from Dr Rangan Chatterjee.

James promotes the notion of ‘it takes a village’ realising the importance of supporting one another has on healing outcomes.

It never disappoints.

Hummus on a pancake?

Yep, I did.

When your houseguests have made eleventy million pancakes for a weekend brunch and they’re still in the fridge the following day it was rude not to.

This recipe’s a regular for us, from Deliciously Ella‘s site: American Fluffy Pancakes.

2,50 euros.  That’s how much I paid for this paper basket full of ripe fruits and vegetables from our local supermarket.

Not organic, granted, but, it saves on waste and was an absolute bargain.  This contained apples, endive, mushrooms, apricots, peaches, green beans and peppers – all seasonal fruits and veg set for the bin.

Great initiative from E LeClerc.

We shared this shocking graphic last week.  It seems we were a week ahead of the news: charcuterie increases cancer risk French authorities have found.

Here’s the full article from Plant Based News, who feature extensively on our site.

This says 'Summer in SW France' like nothing else. The field next to our home. Joyous.
