3 Wise Women

In this version of the Nativity there was juice.
It helped the Wise Men get to Bethlehem with energy and vitality – and it’s helping us navigate the festive season almost 2000 years later. Finishing Strong is our mantra for the final days of 2022, the ‘green stuff’ is an excellent way to kick off those days:
Whole apple, whole lemon, piece of ginger, of turmeric, 3 celery stalks and a 3rd (keeping those 3’s going) of a cucumber. Some filtered water, some black pepper and flaxseed oil, a high-speed blender and you’re (very) good to go.
Here’s Eric Adams, the current mayor of New York City in a former life. He’s stayed true to his health beliefs since he’s been in office:
‘Every New York City healthcare practitioner will be provided with free training on lifestyle medicine, including plant-based nutrition, to help combat chronic disease.’ An article from Veg News stated earlier this month.
As Eric says: ‘A plant-based diet restored my eyesight, put my type 2 diabetes into remission, and helped save my life.”
We’ll watch with interest Mr Mayor, as you Finish Strong. You can find Eric’s testimony here.
First arrival is back in the fold and our run-down university student is having a boost with flowers and a healthy beet juice. Let’s build her up once more, ready to Finish Strong.
‘Nobody should ever have to face breast cancer on their own’ says this UK based charity. Their mission is aiming that people won’t.
The Future Dreams Organisation joined our site this week. Here’s an explanatory video and an article of theirs that we contributed to this week Cancer and Christmas: Top Tips.
We follow Helen Marie, who is a therapist PGDip MPH BSc (Hons) MBACP on Instagram as do over 100k others. Lots of wisdom here; science is showing us that you can’t have a healthy body without a healthy mind.
Let’s all keep learning.
Heavy metals in our chocolate bars? Not what you want to hear as you prepare for the festive season. This new report from Consumer Reports is really concerning.
Why does it matter if there is? ‘Consistent, long-term exposure to even small amounts of heavy metals can lead to a variety of health problems. The metals can cause developmental problems, affect brain development, and lead to lower IQ’, says Tunde Akinleye, the CR food safety researcher who led this testing project.
There’s some big names on here and you don’t need to consume much of their bars to consume unsafe levels, we need to do better guys…
We do crave. We crave lots of things, both healthy and unhealthy. Thought-provoking.
Monday morning’s WhatsApp feed. Made us laugh. As we said: Finishing Strong in the Double-zero camp!
These guys Finished Strong on Sunday. Billed as an epic clash, it was. Interesting that family in South America were 100% behind their continent’s team, whilst in Europe some were pleased that their European counterparts lost.
Congratulations Team Argentina! From Team Double-zero. Together we are always stronger.
Veggie power! Shared by Nutrition Facts this week. It’s a fantastic free resource, featured on our site, of course. Here’s Dr Michael Greger’s ‘why’:
‘NutritionFacts is a tribute to my grandmother, whose own life was saved by diet and lifestyle changes. My life’s mission is to help more people live longer and healthier lives, and your donations make that possible.
Even if you never give a penny, though, everything on NutritionFacts.org is and will always be free, for all and for all time. There’s no members-only area where you can get additional lifesaving information—for a price. There are no advertisements of any kind, and we don’t accept any corporate sponsorships. Our site is strictly non-commercial. We don’t sell potions or promises, and you’ll never see a line of Dr. Greger’s Snake Oil Wonder Supplements. Dr. Greger even donates all of the money he receives from his books and DVDs to charity.
NutritionFacts is a public service for those hungry for evidence-based nutrition.’

Double-zero is a public service for those hungry for evidence-based health, nutrition and sustainability information. Here’s our ‘why’:
‘Double-zero is the resource I wish I had when diagnosed with breast cancer at 5-zero. Only half-way to my own double-zero I was scared. I set about Googling, ploughing through endless websites, searching for relevant research papers, crying at YouTube clips, reading books and articles – many of which were conflicting, irrelevant and confusing. So here it is; One site, full of solid, useful information from those who know.’ Denise Stevenson.
Using our ‘why’ as part of a new program which was released this week by the Unravel Dis-ease Naturally team. We’re featured in part 5 of the program. Here’s a sneak peak of some of our thoughts on ‘Inspiration in the face of Painful Choices’.
A breast cancer diagnosis is always painful
