Seems like wise advice from Donna Ashworth, a beautiful wordsmith that I’ve been following for a few years.  

The mind/body connection is huge and I’m reading more about just that from Dr Leaf, who joined our site this week.  

Dr Leaf has helped many learn to use their mind to detox and grow their brain to succeed in every area of their lives.

For now, turn down the dial folks and feed your mind.


Double-zero has a huge cancer resource.  So why were Breast Cancer Action added to that this week?  Their vision is a bit different:   ‘A world where breast cancer doesn’t threaten lives.’ 

Their commitment is to work to address the current epidemic:

Until no community bears a disproportionate burden of the disease.

Until fewer people are exposed to toxins that increase their risk of breast cancer.

Until everyone affected by breast cancer has access to unbiased information about the disease.

Until quality healthcare, and more effective and less toxic breast cancer treatments, are available and accessible to all who need it.

Until fewer women experience the harms of over-diagnosis and over-treatment.

Until people everywhere have access to the resources and opportunities they need so they can fully engage in decisions about their healthcare and overall well-being according to their values and priorities.

Until people’s health comes before corporate profits.

Until fewer people develop and/or die from this disease in the first place.

The odds are against them, but, they have our vote!


Fruits and vegetables

From 1 January 2022 France will ban plastic packaging for nearly all fruit and vegetables in a bid to reduce plastic waste

Implementing a February 2020 law, the government published a list of about 30 fruits and vegetables that will have to be sold without plastic packaging, including leeks, aubergines and round tomatoes as well as apples, bananas and oranges.

‘The circular economy law aims at cutting back the use of throwaway plastic and boost its substitution by other materials or reusable and recyclable packaging’ the ministry said in a statement.

It estimated that 37% of fruit and vegetables are sold with packaging and expects that the measure will prevent more than one billion useless plastic packaging items per year.

The packaging ban is part of a multi-year government programme to phase out plastic. From 2021 France banned plastic straws, cups and cutlery, as well as styrofoam takeaway boxes.

Cut fruits and a limited number of delicate fruits and vegetables can still be sold with plastic packaging for now but that will be phased out by the end of June 2026.

Plastic packaging will be banned by the end of June 2023 for cherry tomatoes, green beans and peaches, and by the end of 2024 for endives, asparagus, mushrooms, some salads and herbs as well as cherries.  End of June 2026, raspberries, strawberries and other delicate berries must be sold without plastic.

Also from 2022, public spaces must provide water fountains to reduce the use of plastic bottles; press and publicity publications must be shipped without plastic wrapping, while fast-food restaurants can no longer offer free plastic toys.

From January 2023 France will also ban throwaway crockery in fast-food restaurant for meals consumed on-site.

We were officially recognised as a non-profit organisation (NGO) this week.  Under French law the term “association loi de 1901” refers to a non-profit association governed by the law of 1 July 1901.

The application was made on my mum’s 80th birthday – a gentle salute to a very special lady that I miss every single day.

Creamy mushroom pasta with sage

Perfect ‘couch-lying’ food here.  Healthy Living James is featured on our recipe section and his Creamy Mushroom Pasta really hit the spot on a very wintery-feeling evening.  8 ingredients (one of which was sage from our garden), dairy-free and delicious.

Bath towel, Epsom salts, oil, soap.

After an active few days in the sunshine of Northern Spain this was a very welcome home-coming:

A hot bath with a handful of Epsom Salts, a few drops of lavender essential oil and half a cup of baking soda.

At least 20 mins is required for the maximum benefit (shame…) to draw out toxins, lower stress-related hormones and balance our body’s pH level.  A decades old remedy, but boy does it work.  Bliss.
