‘Am I taking the right supplements for me?”
“Am I getting what I pay for?”
“Can supplements really replace my prescription medication?”
“Is there a better manufacturer or brand that I don’t know about?
“Can I trust the online ratings of supplements?”
“How exactly are the supplements I’m taking working in my body?”
“Do I need to take all supplements forever — or can I stop after a time — and how long?”
“Can I get what I need just from my diet?”

Friday evenings have become a cook-fest in our home since a young couple started selling locally-grown organic vegetables to their village.
Here’s 3 of last week’s:
1. Vegan Thai Basil Noodles à la The First Mess
2. Delicious bruschetta with their huge, sweet tomatoes and lots of thai basil (a little gift I was given with my order) and more of the Portuguese first-pressed olive oil from a friend.
3. Wild Rice Salad with Roasted Zucchini (courgettes) again courtesy of The First Mess
Yes, my pics have little resemblance to Laura’s pics on her site. As I’m getting more confident the experimentation levels increase…
A new Marie Kondo series ‘Sparking Joy’ premiers on Netflix on 31 August. She’ll show the impacts of tidying are surprising, emotional and transformative in the lives of the people she meets. We’ll get to step into Marie’s home too, meet her family and get a glimpse into how she sparks joy in her daily life. Wonder if she’d come here?….
Er yes, in a word. Thanks Jue for sharing this gem. Not sure whether I’m proof of this, or whether it was divine intervention, or sheer determination, or a mixture of all of them… But I did buck my prognosis of a mastectomy when diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer in 2017. Fascinating. Lisa’s newly revised, best-selling book Mind Over Medicine is featured on our site.
New to the site this week is Helpguide.org
The site was launched in 1999 and in the ensuing 20 years it has grown from a small local project to an internationally recognised mental health and wellness website that reaches over 50 million people a year—all with no advertising of any kind.
Their mission has remained: ‘To provide empowering, evidence-based information that you can use to help yourself and your loved ones. We firmly believe that no matter what you’re going through, no matter how bad you feel—there’s hope. You are not powerless in the face of mental illness and other life challenges.
Our goal is to be a trusted resource you can turn to whenever you need guidance and support.’ Sounds familiar…
