FURNITURE is made from versatile birch-faced plywood that’s FSC certified.
SURFACES are made from natural materials that can eventually be recycled or composted.
Wishing you your sustainable best!
More HOPE to be had here. Following on from last week’s Something New featuring the work of Jane Goodall, here’s a free summit. You can’t have too much HOPE!
This lovely young (her name’s Ellie Young – not funny, sorry) lady featured on Something New back in April. She will be pleased to see that the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finally taken several actions to strengthen breast implant risk communication and help those who are considering breast implants make informed decisions this week:
- First, they issued orders restricting the sale and distribution of breast implants to help ensure that patients considering breast implants are provided with adequate risk information so that they can make fully informed decisions.
- Second, they approved new labelling for all legally marketed breast implants that includes:
- Boxed warning.
- Patient decision checklist, which must be reviewed with the prospective patient by the health care provider to help ensure the patient understands the risks, benefits and other information about the breast implant device. The patient must be given the opportunity to initial and sign the patient decision checklist and it must be signed by the physician implanting the device.
- Updated silicone gel-filled breast implant rupture screening recommendations.
- Device description with a list of specific materials in the device.
- Patient device card.
They expect manufacturers to post the updated device labelling to their websites within the following 30 days.
- Finally, the FDA released updated information on the status of breast implant manufacturer post-approval studies.
This can only be good news…
Dr Malhotra joined our site this week. Here he is with Dr Hyman a couple of years ago on The Doctor’s Farmacy podcast sharing why he believes prescribing ‘statins as Smarties’ is not going to knock heart disease off the top slot as No1 worldwide killer any time soon. Evidence from the two years since it was recorded is proving him sadly correct.
