We ate.  We laughed.  We cried.  We even watched Eurovision.  Connection.  A group of friends staying in our home for the first time in over 2 years.  Boy, did that feel good.

Garden table and parasol. Set for 8 guests.

We’ve all missed authentic connection.  So important for our mental health.  It’s been tough.  We’ve missed it maybe more than we even know.  Let’s be kind – and re-connect.  Our bodies and minds will thank us for it.

Gov.uk website announcement of Deborah James' Damehood

5.7M pounds have been donated to Cancer Research UK in a week since this lovely lady announced to the world that she was in the final throes of bowel cancer.  Prince William visited her at her home in the sunshine and sat and chatted with her.

Hoping this spotlight on bowel cancer will encourage us to do all we can to protect our bodies against this ever more prevalent disease.

Our site has a massive resource of websites/books/podcasts and research papers to do just that.

Comparison of fast fashion and quality fashion outfits

This ad popped up on my Instagram feed a few days ago.  I’ve always been a believer of quality buys over fast fashion, but the lack of opportunity to wear much of our wardrobe these past 2 years has really emphasised to me quite how little I need to buy more ‘stuff.’

The ‘price per wear’ concept is not new to me, but I’m delighted to see a spotlight being shone on this way of shopping.

Great concept.  Great app.  Hoping the brands featured are as ethical as they claim.

Right direction!

Packets of chocolate bars and soft drinks

‘On what basis?’

Would love to know the answer to that question.

What I do know is that we are not helping one another by continuing to encourage people to eat more and more processed food.

You’ll find 1000’s of reasons not to consume these products.  Vani Hari aka The Food Babe is a good place to find out why.

Google tells me that: ‘The phrase ‘prevention is better than cure’ is often attributed to the Dutch philosopher Desiderius Erasmus in around 1500.’

This lady’s working hard to give her body the best chance of breast cancer not re-curing after a recent mastectomy.

Good to have a ‘celebrity’ follower, even better is that Julia’s 224k followers will be shown our page.  She’s making almond milk today.  Go Julia!

lemon asparagus pasta

Made The Minimalist Baker‘s creamy vegan lemon asparagus pasta last week, with the bunch of local asparagus I bought at the market.  They are featured on our recipe resource.

This was delicious.

Can cats read our blog?

After sharing a pic of a neighbour’s gift last week, here’s a pic of my first arum lily.  It’s taken several attempts, over several years, but I got there!

Next to it is this beauty.  It flowers ALL summer and smells divine.  Heading off to cut a few stems to pop in the spare room, where the next group of friends will be staying from Thursday.  Feels so good to be surrounded by people once more…

Denise Stevenson founded the health and wellness charity Double-zero.org in 2021 after healing from stage 3 breast cancer at (5-zero) and realising there was no one source to access the wealth of resources that had guided her back to health without the mastectomy her oncologist said was a certainty. Denise is a church founder and president, author and local councillor. She's English-born and has French nationality after living there with her husband and 3 girls for the past 20 years.
