The very definition of a ‘short supply chain’: Stunning geraniums from a local gardener to give us some colour at home this summer and delicious fresh asparagus from a farm 15km from where we live. A quick haul before VE Day remembrance service last Sunday.
Yuka app turned up this worrying result whilst I was doing a bit of research into hair shampoos. If they’re correct it shouldn’t be on the shelves of our local supermarket.
This doesn’t look like something that should be put anywhere near our bodies.
An internet search on returning home did not list it as a current ingredient. Old stock? Hope so, still, it has no place on our shelves.
Do ‘label-check’ – there are many more healthier alternatives out there.
As a girlfriend said to me a few years ago: ‘What goes on, goes in’. Our skin is our body’s largest organ after all.
There’s a first time for everything and here’s my first time in a Cat Café!
I’m really not a ‘cat person’, but this little lady made me smile.
So calming and relaxing, she sat with me whilst I enjoyed a catch up with a dear friend, a cup of green tea with rose leaves (delicious) and a slice of homemade raspberry cake.
That’s what Saturdays are for and these Cat Cafe’s could be great for our mental health. Worked in soothing me!
Delighted to see the local bakery we featured on last week’s blog growing.
Locally sourced and made, from high quality ingredients. Way to go!
A friend in Bristol, UK told me about this clever app that saves food waste.
You can reserve a food package, at a discount price and collect within a several hour time slot.
Food’s not wasted, the company gets something for it (and the satisfaction that it’s not being wasted) and you pick up a bargain.
With a claim that a third of all food is wasted, this has to be a step in the right direction.
Win – win – win.
Deborah James, aka The Bowel Babe has been a very public warrior since her diagnosis of bowel cancer 5 years ago.
Her You, Me and the Big C podcast was one of the first cancer related offerings that helps and supports so many.
As Deborah’s treatment options have been stopped, she is in hospice care, surrounded by family and friends.
Rest well dear lady.
Spring has definitely sprung and as we celebrate new life all around us I took a moment of reflection to remember those locals who gave their lives for our freedom. VE Day in Europe.
