‘Every synthetic garment ever made still exists in some form’. Yes, that statement is from the Woolmark Company (Australian Wool Innovation Ltd). Yes, that makes it pro-wool usage, but… this 60 sec video made us think to look at the clothing’s label. Natural fabrics are more sustainable, fact. Wool is but one of those.
Jane’s Celebration of Life will be held on 12 November 11am EST, 5pm Paris, 4pm UK. Click on the link to join. Her work features on our sustainability resource. What a difference she made.

Another lady who’s making a difference here. Dr Mussallem’s interview with Mel Robbins was featured on last week’s blog. She’s offering a free monthly mini-class to anyone interested in learning how to use food for cancer prevention and recovery. Just scan the QR code with your smartphone for access (we checked, it worked for us), or tap in the (very long) Zoom code shown above. Note: Noon Eastern US time is 6pm in Paris, 5pm UK.
‘Let’s turn science into daily habits’ she says. Love that.

Here’s her response to our blog:
Seems appropriate to share some recipes and pics of what we’ve been eating this week.
These Cauliflower Steaks were from the Healthy Recipes Blogs. A first for Denise. Really good. Well and truly ticks Dr Dawn’s cruciferous veg box!
Salted caramel pecan pie from Rebel Recipes is the next one to share. Confession; Denise has eaten this twice now – and it’s been made by Barbara (who helps us with the site content) twice. It was just as good as it was the first time; no bake, freezable – and absolutely delicious, with loads of health benefits.
Sticky orange tofu from the BOSH! Boys was also on the menu this week. They’ve been featured on our Healthy Recipe resource since day one. This was a perfect TV dinner on Saturday night. A bargain on Kindle currently too.
Last one: Butternut squash mac and cheese. Yep we really messed with ‘the classic’. Yep, it was really good. (Not re-heated though, freshly made was best!)
A school-friend shared this article from The Sun newspaper in the UK this week. It’s attention-grabbing headline does have some grains of truth. Here’s the premise: ‘A group from the University of Porto combed through 17 studies involving more than 60,000 people comparing hair density, growth, thickness and shine.’
- Vitamins, especially vitamin D, protected against alopecia (permanent hair-loss) while iron also helped.
- They recommended a diet of greens, such as broccoli and kale, due to their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
- Too much vitamin A — in foods including cheese, eggs, oily fish, low-fat margarines, milk and yogurt — could be a problem.
An interesting article charting the increase of plant-based diets being given to children and the consequences. ‘Veganism in Childhood’ is the BBC article‘s title. As many social media comments pointed out: Veganism is a life-style choice. Plant-based is a dietary choice. They are not the same. The article is however pretty balanced and worth a read.
Talking of balance: We shared some research in a recent blog questioning the safety of Tylenol (a paracetemol) and pregnant women.
The BMJ shared this research last week, showing the opposite result: that it is safe for pregnant women. And so it continues…
Same with melatonin… I shared Dr Andrew Weil’s comments on the natural hormone in our last blog and Maria sent me this research from Science Daily, showing a possible link with long-term usage and potential heart issues. Seems like it’s safe to use sporadically, but not on a regular basis. And we wonder why we get confused???

‘You’re lucky’ is a statement that’s been directed towards many successful people. Love this re-frame from Simon Alexander Ong

Newest addition to our Healthy Recipe resource. We’d featured Nicole’s work, her website had gone, so we removed it – we’ve happily found her again this week. Welcome back!

Yes it’s too early. We know, but it’s not too early to start trying to get a £1000 donation to your charity! It takes 30 seconds to nominate us, costs nothing and would cover Denise’s costs as she heads to speak at the Appleseed Conference (Cancer Wellness Revolution) in the States in February 2026.
