I Am Not a Survivor

… And this is not a fight.

Dr Katie Deming is an oncologist who realised that for many of her patients, using ‘battle’ language was unhelpful. They found it dismissed their achievements and reminded them of the very worst time of their lives. When we’re fighting we’re not healing – and healing is what we so very much need to do.

How to speak to those we want to heal:

UK Health Radio are the first ever radio station dedicated to health and wellness. ‘The station that makes you feel good’ is now 13 years old, has 41 presenters and is listened to in 54 countries. Here’s Johann Ilgenfritz, Founder and CEO whom Denise met at the Yes to Life 20th anniversary event at the Houses of Parliament two weeks ago. Yes to Life have a featured podcast, as do 41 other organisations.

We often say Health is Wealth. Johann adds here – Health is Freedom:

A lovely Instagram post this week from Deliciously Ella.

Those potato wedges still sound good, 12 years on.

Consistancy. That’s the key. Just keep sharing your message.

If it’s good enough (and Ella, it is), it’ll stick.

Our morning go-to: Open Kindle, read the day’s verse, the daily thoughts and the daily prayer. Sets you up for a win. Tech just made it even easier to begin each day the right way!

Catherine is one of our contributors and we are delighted for her this week as she launched this powerhouse and it instantly became another Amazon bestseller for her.

It’s 99p on Amazon Kindle UK as I type, snooze you lose…

There’s a movement building: because ‘If our soil dies – we die’

Common Ground is a powerful film advocating regenerative farming, which has some big Hollywood names involved. ‘We can all find our ‘common ground’ to heal the soil, our health, and the planet.’ It’s not too late – yet.

There may be an element of truth in this. (Top tip – our nutrition resource.)

The Times newspaper in the UK carried an article about PFAs (forever chemicals) being in 95% of the strawberries tested this week.

Strawberries have been No1 on the Environmental Working Group‘s ‘Dirty Dozen’ (most sprayed crops) for years now.

95%!

That’s horrendous.

As are the accusations surrounding these ‘hydration drinks’ that have been a ‘cool’ product for teens and young adults over the past couple of years. LOTS of publicity surrounding the ongoing trial that is alleging horrendous health outcomes from drinking these products. Healthline carried an article last July, as did the UK’s Guardian newspaper.

A respected American law film Milberg are bringing the class action against the founders, with Thomas E Bosworth a lawyer who’s well known on TikTok commenting in the past couple of days. Watch this space, it won’t be pretty.

More articles, this time focusing on ways to reduce your cancer risk.

Dr Shireen Kassam MB BS, FRCPath, PhD, DipIBLM is a Consultant Haematologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College Hospital, London, who founded Plant Based Health Professionals UK. Her take on preventative measures was published by the Readers Digest.

Another article, this time from Nichole Andrews, an American nutritionist, was published in the Daily Mail yesterday. We’ve not seen any research to back up some of the claims in this one eg:

‘Large doses of supplements like Vitamin B3 have been linked to a higher risk of cancer in the brain, while others — like Vitamin C and E — have been linked to more rapid growth in tumours.’ Anyone?
