Wiggle Room

Diets are usually doomed to fail. Lifestyle choices however stand a way better chance of success. Let us introduce you to the concept of ‘Wiggle Room’:

These amazing creations were bought for me by a girlfriend for my birthday last month and yes, they were every bit as delicious as they look. Yes, I did have a mad weekend with girlfriends in July and yes, we did drink white port and laugh a lot (a dopamine and serotonin fest!)

And yes, I am sitting here typing alongside my organic oat porridge, with plant milk, blackberries from our garden, chia seeds and banana. I’m drinking a freshly made juice too: lemon, ginger, turmeric, cucumber, beetroot and filtered water.

Balance – with a healthy bit of Wiggle Room.

There was a whole lot of ‘wiggling’ of another sort going on at Kelloggs US HQ last week when 400k petitions were delivered to their door by several of the doctors and health professionals that feature on our site. The petition asks that the company adopts the same recipe for their Fruit Loop cereal as is sold in Europe (where several of the artificial dyes are illegal).

The story has been picked up by the UK press too. It’s a shocker when you realise the product is currently being sold to US families, under the same name, with more harmful ingredients, whilst European and Canadian children have the same product with some of the more harmful additives removed. And yes, there really is a reputedly cancer-causing dye in the US version.

Another mainstream news report over carcinogenic products the public are being exposed to. Another payout. And on it goes. The European Union have recently re-licensed the product for use until 15 December 2033.

And another one. What are we doing to the next generation? And why? Here’s an explicative article entitled ‘The Truth About Fluoride’ from Live Love Fruit, whom we’ve featured on our Healthy Body resource since day one.

‘A meta-analysis of 27 cross-sectional studies of children exposed to fluoride in drinking water, mainly from China, suggests an average IQ decrement of about seven points in children exposed to raised fluoride concentrations’ The Lancet. The research paper describes fluoride as a ‘developmental neurotoxicant’. Absolutely no ‘wiggle room’ there – filter your tap water, please.

“The point of life is not staying alive but staying in love.” She must have spent a long time in love because boy did she stay alive a LONG time. We featured ‘the Mother of Holistic Medicine’ on our blog a year ago. Details of what is sure to be an emotional send off (25 October) are on her website. Here are her secrets to living a long, healthy life as shared in The Sun newspaper earlier this year: 1. Find your ‘juice’. 2. Move it, move it. 3. Practice self love. 4. Harness connection. 5. Find the lessons. 6. Spend your energy wisely.

More headlines: ‘Unemployed could get weight loss jabs to return to work‘ stated a BBC article on 15 October. On 16 October they shared: ‘Obesity not an issue for job-seekers, say charities‘. The full articles are linked to their headlines. Or, you can click on this link to our Weight Loss resource which is full of natural, sustainable, long-term solutions from medical professionals, along with some real-world, healing stories.

Some positive news! Coldplay have released their new album. This edition is made from 70% recycled river plastic. We’ve featured their sustainability efforts before (on our blog last July). They’ve since improved them even more. Here‘s the latest stats.

They purchased two River Interceptors: Neon Moon 1 and Neon Moon 2 (one in Malaysia and one in Indonesia), which remove thousands of tonnes of garbage from some of the most polluting rivers around the world, intercepting waste before it reaches the ocean. The Ocean Cleanup units are working in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch to clear 90% of floating ocean plastic by 2040. And here’s how they do it:

As the seasons change here in the Northern Hemisphere and we’re bombarded with what feels like overwhelming sad news here’s some comfort food that we enjoyed earlier in the week.

Sage from our garden, fried in olive oil for 10 seconds, delicious. Who knew?

Thanks to your recent donations we’re all signed up for this event next weekend. We’ll be raising funds for flights to the Annie Appleseed Project Annual Conference next February, where Denise will be speaking. Selling: Freshly made juices, healthy banana bread, antioxidant-rich dark chocolate bars, houseplants to clean the air in your home, fluoride-free toothpaste, Epsom salts to detox your body. Come see us. If you can’t you can donate here. Thank you.

Just be kind
