Christmas week in the sunshine was such a treat. Barcelona is a wonderful mix of nature-in-the-city, fresh plant-based food at reasonable prices, efficient public transport, Unesco world heritage sites and a beach too.
Strolling the historical city centre, greenery everywhere.
The ‘Music Palace’ was a sight to behold.
Fresh fruit and veg available everywhere.
Oat milk latte, vegan cheese toastie, in the sunshine by the sea, €5.50.
Honest Greens are a plant-based chain of cafés that can be found all over the city.
This tasted as good as it looked…
Freshly made bowls of goodness. The lunch menu (at €9.90) is a freshly made smoothie (I had the detox), with a bowl of hummus and veggies, delicious.
Water always seemed to come in glass bottles, not plastic. There was no shortage of plant-based milk options for coffee and here’s a delicious vegan panna cotta.
Totally spoiled.
It’s still not finished!
The Sagrada Familia basilica proved to be 3 hours well spent.
The outer walls depict the life of Christ, whilst the inner space is an architectural feat ‘par excellence’.
Full of natural light, the interior is composed of natural materials: stained glass, wood, iron and stone.
As the sun follows its daily trajectory it illuminates various windows in the building.
Stunning.
The Cathedral is surrounded by greenery and has it’s own feathered friends in attendance.
Walked to the harbour on my final day. Christmas-ready. What a treat.
Back to business:
Did you receive a scented candle as a gift today? They are just the beginning of it; TOXINS are everywhere and no-one denies they are bad for our health. This is a scary, necessary, important watch: Dr Yvonne Burkart is a toxicologist who worked at a senior level in the flavour and fragrance industry for many years.
Could planting more of these be key to our environmental issues? Nature doesn’t make mistakes.
A consequence of the public’s discontent with Bovaer™ being added to milk? Cravendale are one of the brands owned by Arla foods. We cover the issue extensively in our previous blog.
Professor of Health Policy at Stanford University to lead the NIH (National Institute of Health) in the US? Now wouldn’t that be ‘a thing’. 2025 is going to be a very interesting one watching massive changes in healthcare Stateside. Long overdue.
The dangers of seed oils is gathering pace. The UK’s Daily Mail have carried several articles in the past few weeks, exposing possible links with these ultra processed oils and colon cancer. The popular Zoe health podcast is still carrying an article stating that they are not evil.
Really looking forward to the release of this film (next April in the UK). Full of the beauty of nature and the power of the human spirit it’s inspiring and life affirming.
Here’s a little taster:
Christmas JUICE. No idea how we manage to layer the chlorella in this beetroot based juice. It was a detox smoothie par excellence: fresh organic beets, a whole lemon, ginger root, turmeric root, a whole apple and filtered water.
Christmas in a bowl. Who said festive desserts can’t be healthy? Fresh blueberries, pomegranate, frozen apricots from our garden, pecan nuts, coconut yoghurt and date syrup.
Last shout out of the year: We have bills to pay; airline tickets to be precise. Denise will be speaking about ‘Cancer Treatments – From a Patient Perspective’ at the Appleseed Conference in February. The 6 flights cost €496 on Black Friday. All other costs are covered by The Appleseed Project, would you consider supporting her?
You generously supported her in February 2024, would you consider contributing once more? Those connections are priceless for our mission as we continue to support and encourage as many people as possible to take control of their health.
January then???
